THE BENEFITS OF KVM THE BENEFITS OF KVM IN REMOTE AND DIGITAL IN REMOTE AND DIGITAL TOWER CONCEPTS TOWER CONCEPTS HOW KVM CONTRIBUTES TO THE DIGITALIZATION OF AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL 36 Digitalization has arrived in Air Traffic Management as more and more airports are relying on digital tower concepts. The transformation brings more security, increased flexibility, and efficiency. From futuristic concept to viable application, various models have evolved over time. The remote digital tower is attracting particular attention, as it is still a major challenge technologically to manage air traffic completely remotely. ↑ KVM systems become the invisible helper for the ideal integration of a digital tower In addition to the visualization of the panoramic view, which is essential especially in a remote tower, there are other challenges that go hand in hand with the digitalization of the tower. More technology means more data which has to be managed accordingly. Fail-safety becomes even more important in a digital tower, and the optimization of controller working positions plays a special role in the changed working environment of air traffic controllers. Last but not least, all systems must be compatible with one another. In this context, the integration of legacy equipment into the modern working environment can be a major challenge. KVM systems become the invisible helper for the ideal integration and offer various advantages in the planning and implementation of a digital tower – whether remote or physical. KVM in Air Traffic Control KVM enables flexible IT access, optimizes ergonomics at controller working positions and ensures maximum fail-safety as well as cybersecurity.
