14 JCAA ANS (JAMAICA) LVNL SKYGUIDE The ICAO Competency-based training method was introduced during the period. This method was established at the Aerodrome level where On-the-Job training commenced and will continue to be implemented at the surveillance training level. We introduced the online version of the LPE-assessment and will continue to use this format in the future. We use this for ab initio training and continuation training. Further, LVNL obtained approval from the Competent Authority to (partly) use more simulator training in the advanced training. We are discussing with the CA how this way of working can be prolonged. The Skyguide Academy went from on-site training to an operational, remote training solution for its trainees in record time and was thus able to deliver its services and continue training and learning during the pandemic. Skyguide managed to build on an existing infrastructure and long-standing expertise in remote solutions to enable a seamless transition from on- site to at-home training. We could draw from a vision already established in 2004 and we were able to enhance it with modern technological solutions and tool, even integrating elements from the world of gaming.
