MORE ON SYSTEM FUNCTIONS.
Significant meteorological phenomena displayed on the AAWDSS screen are divided into two groups. ATCO-relevant phenomena serve air traffic controllers, AO/GH relevant phenomena are intended for airport operators/ground handlers.
The main screen of the system consists of three main tabs/sub-screens depending on the desired forecast time range - current operations, short term plan, and long term plan.
CURRENT OPERATIONS
The Current operations tab displays current data for the following hours. It informs the user about the current state of the significant meteorological phenomena, provides a short term forecast of these phenomena (nowcasting), as well as a short history of these phenomena (trend).
SHORT TERM PLAN
The forecast screen for the next 24 hours - the Short term plan - contains a forecast of significant meteorological phenomena for the next 24 hours starting from the current time in a 1-hour time step. The core inputs to short term forecasting of significant phenomena are TAF and TREND messages, local mesoscale numerical weather prediction models, and optionally also radar information and satellite data. The input data used to generate the short term plan generation are configured according to the customer’s specifications.
